Venta de Posa

A legacy worth savoring

The house that is now Venta de Posa was built in the 18th century, next to the old road -once a Roman route- that connected Dénia with Jesús Pobre and Xàbia, skirting the Montgó mountain. During the 19th century and early 20th century, carts loaded with raisins passed by here on their way down from inland to the port of Dénia. In the inner terrace you can still see the old olive press, no longer in use, where olives were ground to extract their oil.

No one knows for certain where the name Posa comes from. After years of being abandoned, the house reopened as a restaurant in 1983. Today, Juan and Rosa Montaner run the family business, making sure every detail keeps the warmth this place has always had.

In the kitchen, local produce, the seasonal market and traditional Valencian recipes are the starting point for every dish.

What used to be the house’s main entrance is now El Carreter, another restaurant that opened a few years ago. If you’re curious, it’s also worth a visit on a special occasion.

Come and meet us.

We look forward to welcoming you to Venta de Posa.
